Intestinal or oropharyngeal candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by the Candida species, typically Candida albicans. Treatment for intestinal or oropharyngeal candidiasis involves the use of antifungal medications such as fluconazole, nystatin, or amphotericin B. In addition to medication, it may be necessary to make dietary changes to avoid foods that promote the growth of Candida, such as sugar, refined carbohydrates, and alcohol. Probiotics may also be used to restore healthy gut flora and prevent the overgrowth of Candida.

Prevention of intestinal or oropharyngeal candidiasis involves maintaining good hygiene practices, avoiding unnecessary use of antibiotics, and managing underlying medical conditions that can weaken the immune system. People with diabetes, HIV, or other conditions that weaken the immune system are at a higher risk of developing candidiasis and should take extra precautions to prevent infection.
